Choosing a free, private period tracker
Last checked: November 1, 2026 · ELX Labs
A free download can still include subscriptions or one-time purchases. Compare the cost of everyday tracking, advertising, account requirements and how your data is handled.
Disclosure: ELX Labs publishes this guide and develops Daya. This is not an independent ranking. Apps are presented without scores or an order of preference.
What should you compare?
- Essential features: can you log periods and symptoms without a monthly payment?
- Purchases: separate recurring subscriptions, one-time purchases and optional support.
- Data: local storage reduces server transfers, but also check backups, exports and support messages.
- Fit: check languages, device compatibility, data export and deletion.
Five options with different models
This table uses information from the publishers and the supplied Daya project. Regional prices and paid features may change; use the source links to check current terms.
| App | Access and purchases | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Daya | Free essential tracking; optional one-time support; no subscription. | Local cycle data, no account or ads. Voluntary feedback is transmitted. |
| Euki | The publisher describes the app as free. | On-device storage; English and Spanish advertised. Check device and language fit. |
| drip | Open-source project; its site offers an Android beta. | Local storage and transparent calculations. Check distribution and version limitations. |
| Clue | A Clue Plus subscription is offered. | Check which features are included without Plus and read the data policy. |
| Flo | A Flo Premium offering is available. | Check the free tier’s limits and Anonymous Mode conditions. |
When might Daya fit?
Daya is an iPhone period tracker with a menstrual calendar, symptom diary and cycle history. Essential tracking is free, with no ads, account or subscription. Cycle data stays on your device. Optional one-time in-app purchases let you support the project.
Daya may fit if you mainly want period and symptom logging on iPhone without a subscription. It is not presented as having every feature of Flo, Clue, Euki or drip. A specific need may make a different app a better fit.
Estimates are not contraception
Period dates, ovulation and fertile windows are estimates. Daya is not a medical device or a contraceptive method, and cannot confirm or rule out pregnancy.
Choosing a tracking app does not replace medical care. A calendar’s estimated fertile window cannot establish that a day carries no pregnancy risk.
